AUSTRALIAAustralia organised two special flights on Friday and Sunday to bring back citizens from Israel, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said on Wednesday. CANADACanada plans to operate evacuation flights for Canadians stranded in Israel, Foreign Minister Melanie Joly said on Tuesday. ITALYItaly arranged for seven flights between Tuesday and Wednesday, the Italian foreign ministry said late on Tuesday, as part of efforts to repatriate about 900 Italian citizens from Israel. On Wednesday, Portugal had repatriated 152 Portuguese citizens directly from Israel, plus 14 citizens from other European countries.

Here are airlines that have temporarily halted flights to and from Israel:AFRICARoyal Air Maroc cancelled flights to and from Tel Aviv on Saturday and Sunday. On Sunday, United Airlines (UAL.O) and American Airlines (AAL.O) suspended direct flights to Tel Aviv. EUROPEAll airlines owned by Germany's Lufthansa (LHAG.DE), including Austrian Airlines, Swiss International Airlines and Brussels Airlines, cancelled flights to and from Tel Aviv through Saturday. Norwegian Air (NAS.OL) cancelled flights from Copenhagen and Stockholm to Tel Aviv and return flights through Sunday. Portugal's TAP suspended flights to and from Tel Aviv without providing a time frame.

Growth came mostly from exports, the result of a revival in global trade as China re-opened for business after the pandemic. But national data showed price growth remained stubbornly high, probably leaving the ECB with no choice but to keep raising interest rates. Friday's inflation data showed progress was slow. IMF CALLS FOR MORE RATE HIKESMoney markets currently price in another 70 basis points of ECB rate hikes by October, possibly followed by cuts as early as the start of next year. It also said European Union finance ministers should tighten fiscal policy in concerted action to bring down high inflation, which would probably depress consumption further.

Germany's 10-year bond yield, the benchmark for the euro zone, jumped to its highest level since 2011 at 2.66% as traders ramped up bets that ECB rates will peak around 4% at year-end. Expectations for the peak in ECB rates have risen by over 40 basis points this month on fears that inflation will be more persistent than expected, particularly for core goods that exclude volatile fuel and food prices. Some investors even think there is a risk of the ECB raising rates by more than 50 basis points in March, despite its explicit guidance for the move. "The February data shows that French inflation has not reached its peak yet," ING economist Charlotte de Montpellier said. In Spain, core inflation also accelerated, adding to the ECB's worries that price growth is becoming persistent.

REUTERS/Jon NazcaJan 3 (Reuters) - The number of people registering as jobless in Spain fell slightly in December from a month earlier, ending 2022 at a 15-year low, data from the Labour Ministry showed on Tuesday. The number of jobless fell by 1.52%, or by 43,727 people, leaving 2.84 million people out of work. "This data shows that labour protection measures are working," Labour Minister Yolanda Diaz said in a post on Twitter. Spain lost 8,347 net formal jobs in December to 20.31 million jobs, after November's record high job creation, a separate report from the Social Security Ministry showed. Unemployment of young people under 25 decreased 5.86% in December, by 12,185 people, compared with the previous month and reaching a record low of 195,751 people.

Nov 8 (Reuters) - Siemens Energy (ENR1n.DE) opened on Tuesday a 4.05 billion euro ($4.05 billion) bid for the third of the shares it does not own in its unit Siemens Gamesa (SGREN.MC), the German company said. The acceptance period will last 36 calendar days and is expected to end on Dec. 13 2022, said the company, after the Spanish stock market regulator authorised the deal on Monday. During the acceptance period, Siemens Gamesa's shareholders who wish to do so may tender their shares in exchange for 18.05 euros per share in cash. The price offered by Siemens Energy included a premium of 28% over the last unaffected closing share price of Spanish-listed Siemens Gamesa. Siemens Energy announced in May a plan to buy the remaining third of wind turbine maker Siemens Gamesa to improve its control over operational problems at the division that issued three profit warnings in less than a year.

MADRID, Oct 17 (Reuters) - Spain's competition watchdog said on Monday it was initiating disciplinary proceedings against Booking.com (BKNG.O) for possible anti-competiton practices affecting hotels and online travel agencies. The proceedings stem from two complaints filed by the Spanish Association of Hotel Managers and the Mardid Hotel Business Association, the watchdog known as CNMC said. The complaints argued the booking website had imposed unfair conditions on hotels located in Spain and implemented policies that could lead to exclusionary effects on other online travel agencies and online sales channels.
